Louis George Smith Jr. 58, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday December 26, 2023 in Holt County, MO. He was born February 14, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri son of the late Joyce and Louis Smith. He worked at Seaman and Schuske Metal Works as a Foreman Roofer over 15 years. He loved hunting, fishing, playing poker, and was always talking about hunting. He was a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Local 20 Union. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, an older brother, and sister, Candy Elaine Smith. Survivors include: his soul mate, Janice Lee Gatewood of the home, children, Nicholas (Kristen) Smith, Amazonia, MO, Amber Mathes, Todd (Jenny) Westcott, St. Joseph, MO, Shay Lynn (Michael) Mace, Utica, MO, and brother, Tom (Frankie) Romi, sisters, Helena Sale, Nadine Smith and Molly Smith, brother-in-law, Larry Osborn, grandchildren, Maci, Hunter, Jace, and Dallas Smith, along with numerous other grandkids and great grandkids. Funeral Services with public live stream will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home with Interment following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home.
